Callaway Church of God's prayer partners  uphold
our pastor and church in prayer.

Purpose: To enlist, educate, equip and encourage
the members and attenders of CCOG to devote
themselves to prayer - knowing it is powerful and
effective.  Our mission is to make dependence upon
God through prayer foundational to our church and to provide a
solid, purpose-driven prayer base.

Prayer partners must be willing to:
  • Pray regularly on a personal basis for our church and pastor.
  • Pray once every two months during the message portion of the Sunday morning service with at least one other prayer partner.
  • On the Sunday you are scheduled to pray during the service, meet with Pastor Bill and the worship team leader ten minutes prior to the service for prayer in the pastor’s study.
  • Attend the scheduled prayer breakfasts for all prayer partners.  (2-3 a year)
  • When prayer requests are received (in church service, prayer gathering, through prayer chain, on website), commit time for prayer for those requests, keeping prayer requests confidential if asked to do so.

The Intercessory Prayer Teams purpose is to lift our pastors, their wives & children, the elders, and church staff in daily prayer.

IPT members are asked to commit to:

  • Prayer on a daily basis for the person you have been assigned.
  • Prayer once a week with your assigned person; meeting with that person and other team members who have also been assigned him/her.  Taking prayer requests from your assigned person - keeping all prayer requests confidential.
  • The prayer time together is a time to pray only for your assigned person and any needs he/she may have.

Being a 'House of Prayer

Jesus said in Luke 19:46, ".. my house is the house of prayer.."

What is it that defines a church as a "house of prayer"?   Contrary to what most Christians have been led to believe, there is a big difference between being a group of believers who prays and being a "house of prayer".

A Church That Prays:
  • Prays about what it does.
  • Fits prayer in.
  • Prays when there are problems.
  • Announces a special time of prayer-- some of the church shows up.
  • Asks God to bless what it is doing.
  • Is frustrated by financial shortfalls-- backs down from challenges.
  • Is tired, weary, stressed out.
  • Does things within its means.
  • Seeks to serve its own members.
  • Is involved in the work of men.

A 'House of Prayer'
  • Does things by prayer.
  • Gives prayer priority.
  • Prays when there are opportunities.
  • Announces a special time of prayer-- most of the church shows up.
  • Asks God to enable it to do what He is doing.
  • Is challenged by financial shortfalls-- calls for fasting, prayer, and faith.
  • Mounts up with wings like eagles, runs and doesn't grow weary, walks and does not faint.
  • Does things beyonds its means.
  • Seeks to serve the world around it.
  • Is involved in the work of God.

Callaway Church of God
"I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers,
intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone—

...For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all men."
